"How do you become an Event Planner (event planner) / Event Organizer (EO)?"

Another common question that people ask is...

·         "How do I start without money (capital)?"

·         "How do I rate my services?"

·         "How do I get more clients?"

It's not as difficult or complicated as you might think if you learn from the right place.

To get started you can continue reading below or if you know you are ready for the industry's best detailed Event Planning Course you can

For now, keep reading.

Overview

The first thing to do is decide what kind of event planner you want. What kind of event do you like the most.

The best way to know which part of event planning you want to pursue is to know the two main categories the industry is divided into these 2 (two) categories are:

1. Social Planner

Social planning includes weddings, birthdays, parties, anniversaries, holidays, baby showers, and reunions.

2. Corporate Planner

Corporate planning includes meetings, corporate events, seminars, conventions, associations and charities.

The first thing to do is find out which of the two categories you enjoy the most.

While there are ways to be successful doing both event categories, we recommend that you master one category before tackling the other.

How Can You Become an Event Organizer?

You have three options for getting involved in the EO industry.

1. You can start your own EO business.

It has a 5 Star Rating and answers many of the most common questions:

·         What's the first step to becoming an EO?

·         How to start without money / capital?

·         How do you get clients?

·         How do you know how much it will cost for my services?

·         How do you know if you're charging enough money?

·         What's the best way to market my business?

·         Do I need an event planning degree / certification?

·         and others

Now you know that you have to decide whether being a social planner or a corporate planner is more attractive to you.

Once you've discovered it's time to create your marketing plan so you can get clients. The goal is to get your first 1-3 clients within a month of reading the article (it provides so many great ideas for getting clients that all you have to do is implement the marketing strategy that appeals to you the most.)

Other things you must learn to start a successful EO business are:

1.      How to price your services. (click here to learn about pricing    )

2.     How to receive deposits and payments (get 50% deposit upon signing the contract and the balance a few days before the event). (click here to learn about  this  )

3.             How to build a good team around you.

4.     How to write a proposal.

5.     Creating the best vendor network   .

2. You can get a job as an EO.

If starting your own business isn't right for you, then you can find EO work for somewhere or a vendor.

Many mid to large companies hire their own Event Planner / EO. Common companies that have staff planners are hotels, restaurants, concert venues, nightclubs and television studios.

In this role you will be responsible for things like:

·         Inauguration Meeting

·         Promotion

·         Board meeting

·         Meeting of Shareholders

·         Award ceremony

·         Executive trip

·         Industry / trade exhibition

·         Seminar

·         Convention

·         Gathering

·         Event of CSR

·         event for customer

·         etc.

The nice thing about being an in-house Event Planner is that you get a good budget to spend on each event. And you already have a built-in client without having to get one yourself. But you don't have the freedom to use your own creativity to make the event beautiful and you don't profit from keeping 100% of the profits from your event.

Another good idea is to work for a vendor. By working for vendors such as catering companies, florists, decoration rentals, etc., you can see how an event works without competing with hundreds of other people for some of the available in-house event planner jobs.

To get a job as an event planner at a company you can qualify if you have an existing bachelor's degree  in event planning, hospitality management, marketing, communications, or tourism. If you don't have a bachelor's degree in one of them, we don't recommend getting one right away.

You can still get a great job as an Event Planner without a degree.

Taking a course at home or even a few classes at your local community college can qualify you for a job.

Volunteerism

The experience of voluntary   or charity can get you the job as well. This really comes down to understanding the industry, being able to creatively host great events, negotiating good prices with high-quality vendors, and having a job portfolio that can impress your future boss.

The key to getting started volunteering is not accepting any role as a volunteer. Make sure you take on meaningful roles that you can learn from or you can use photos for your portfolio.

For example - if you're volunteering at a marathon in your local city, don't just be a check-in participant for the event. You want to be part of the event planning committee. That's where you will network with the right people and let your creative work show.
